What we aim for
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, for Deedmade™ itself and for every website, members area and Owner's Portal we build.
How we check
- Every update is checked automatically with axe-core against WCAG 2.1 A and AA, across this site and a platform with every feature switched on: the website, the members area, the Owner's Portal and its tools. An update doesn't ship with a serious problem.
- Every colour combination in every design style is checked for contrast before it's offered: text 4.5:1 or more, large text and controls 3:1 or more.
- Moving backgrounds follow each visitor's reduced-motion setting and can be switched off by the owner.
- Pages work with a keyboard, have proper headings and labels, and say what they're in a language attribute.
What we know isn't perfect yet
- Captions for lesson videos are the owner's to add. We make it easy (they can be written automatically), but a lesson without them has no captions.
- Live sessions don't have live captions yet.
- Descriptions of the pictures an owner adds are only as good as the words the owner writes for them.
Tell us
If something on Deedmade™ or on a platform we built is hard to use, write to [email protected]. We aim to reply within two working days and to fix accessibility problems as a priority.
