How to

How to move your members off Kajabi or Skool

By Deedmade™2 min read

The short answerExport your members, set up the new platform, bring them in, and tell them before you switch. Run both side by side for a short time so nobody gets lost, and let paid-up members keep access until their next payment.
  1. Export your members. Download your member list (and your email list, if it's separate) as a spreadsheet. Each platform lets you export different things, so check what yours includes.
  2. Set up the new platform first. Lessons, community spaces and prices in place before anyone moves.
  3. Bring them in. Import the list so each member has access waiting for them.
  4. Tell them early. One email a week or two before: what's changing, why it's better for them, and when.
  5. Send their way in. On the day, each member gets an email with how to sign in.
  6. Run both for a short time. Keep the old one open for a few weeks with a pinned post pointing to the new home.
  7. Move the payments last. Subscriptions already in your own Stripe simply carry on. Members who pay through the old platform keep access until their paid-up date, then rejoin on the new one.

What usually goes wrong

  • Switching off the old platform on the same day. Give people time.
  • Only telling members once. Most people miss the first email.
  • Moving old community posts nobody reads. Start fresh with a welcome thread instead.

In a Deedmade™ platform, Bring members over in your Owner's Portal imports the export from Kajabi, Skool, Teachable, Patreon or any spreadsheet. You see who's coming over before anything changes, and can email each member their new access. Your email list comes over too, with unsubscribed people left off.

Stop renting. Own it.
