What Stan Store does well
Stan Store took off because it solves one problem very well: selling to people who find you on social media.
- Built for phones. Your store is one page that looks right on a phone, which is where your followers are.
- Checkout without the fuss. Buyers pay in a few taps without leaving the page.
- Lots to sell in one place: digital downloads, courses, coaching calls, memberships and a free lead magnet to collect emails.
- No cut of your sales from Stan on either plan. You pay card processing, as anywhere.
- Simple pricing. Creator is ~$29 a month and Creator Pro ~$99 a month, or ~$300 and ~$948 a year up front.
If you're selling a guide and a few calls from your Instagram or TikTok bio, Stan is quick and sensible. This guide is for when your store has turned into a real business and you start to want more of it to be yours.
Why people look for a Stan Store alternative
- Every store looks alike. The layout is Stan's, so buyers remember Stan's look, not yours.
- It's a page, not a home. There's no full website with your own pages, blog and members area under your name.
- Payments run through Stan's setup. Write-ups describe Stan creating and managing the Stripe account for you, rather than you connecting one you already own. Check Stan's help pages for how it works today.
- Courses and community are simple. Fine for a short course; thin for a full program with a community, live sessions and certificates.
- The fee never stops. Creator Pro billed monthly is ~$1,190 a year, every year.
Stan Store alternatives compared
| Option | Best for | Price shown | Who owns it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stan Store, for reference | Selling downloads, calls and courses from your social bio | ~$29 to ~$99 a month; no Stan cut of sales | Stan |
| Podia | A simple website with courses, downloads, a community and email | Mover ~$49 a month plus 5% of sales; Shaker ~$99 a month | Podia |
| Kajabi | A full course business with a website, email and funnels | ~$179 to ~$499 a month | Kajabi |
| Gumroad | Selling a few digital products with no monthly fee | No monthly fee; about 10% plus a small fixed fee per direct sale | Gumroad |
| Systeme.io | Funnels, email and courses on a tight budget | Free plan; paid from ~$17 to ~$97 a month | Systeme.io |
| Your own platform Deedmade™ | Creators whose store is now a business they'll run for years | $2,499 once, 0% of your sales | You |
Each alternative, honestly
Podia is the natural step up: a proper website with courses, downloads, webinars, a community and email, still simple to run. Its lowest plan takes 5% of sales, so most growing stores end up on Shaker. See our Podia alternatives guide too.
Kajabi is the big all-in-one: courses, a website, email marketing, funnels and a community. It does far more than Stan and costs far more, so it suits creators whose income is already steady.
Gumroad has no monthly fee, which is lovely while sales are small. Instead it takes about 10% of each direct sale plus a small fixed fee, and more on sales through its marketplace. Once you sell a few thousand dollars a month, that cut can cost more than a plan.
Systeme.io is the budget pick for funnels, email and courses, with a free plan to start. It's capable and cheap, but it's another rented system with its own look and limits.
Owning your platform means your store becomes your own website and your own members app, on accounts in your name. With Deedmade™, you pay $2,499 once (the early-bird price until December 31, 2026; the regular price is $3,900) and get every feature included: a downloads shop, order bumps and one-click upsells, sales funnels with A/B tests, courses, memberships, booked calls, a community, live sessions and email marketing. There's no monthly fee required and we take 0% of your sales. What you give up is Stan's simplicity: there are a few accounts to keep (your domain, Stripe, Cloudflare and an email sender), though most have free plans.
What three years costs
| Stan Creator | Stan Creator Pro | Deedmade™ | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1, billed monthly | ~$350 | ~$1,190 | $2,499 |
| Year 3, billed monthly | ~$1,040 | ~$3,560 | $2,499 |
| Year 3, paid yearly | ~$900 | ~$2,840 | $2,499 |
| Year 5, billed monthly | ~$1,740 | ~$5,940 | $2,499 |
| Your own website and members app | No | No | Yes |
| Who owns it | Stan | Stan | You |
Stan's Creator plan is cheaper than owning for a long time, and that's fine: if a simple store is all you need, keep it. The comparison that matters is against Creator Pro plus the tools you add around it, such as a course platform, a community or a booking tool. Owning still has small running costs: the card fee on each sale (as anywhere), your domain, and Cloudflare hosting, which is free or about $5 a month with live features. The $49 a month care plan is optional, and so is listing your app in the App Store and Google Play ($99 a month).
How to choose
- Stay on Stan if you sell a handful of products from your bio and simplicity matters more than anything else.
- Choose Gumroad if sales are small and you'd rather pay a cut than a monthly fee.
- Choose Podia or Systeme.io if you want a real website and email without a big bill, and you're happy to keep renting.
- Choose Kajabi if you want a full course business in one subscription and the price is small next to your income.
- Own your platform if your store is now a business, you want your own name on members' phones, and you'd rather pay once than every month.
Keeping your link in bio
You don't have to give up the link in your bio. Your own website can be the link: a short page with your products and a phone-friendly checkout, on your own domain. Followers tap the same way they did before, and they land somewhere that's yours.
To switch, set up the new store first, move your products and price them the same, then change the link in your bio on one day. Email past buyers where their purchases now live. Keep Stan open until active memberships have renewed on the new home. Want to see it first? Build yours free, with no credit card until you approve it, or compare on our Stan Store alternative page.
Prices of other companies are approximate, from their own pricing pages on October 11, 2026 (yearly-billing prices, add-ons and plans not in our calculator were checked on November 6, 2026), and they change. Where a page shows a monthly price that is billed a year at a time, we say so. Check their websites for today's prices.
